Many people think that if you add a pool, you will lose lots of money when you sell your home. In reality, if you build a pool and you have the 3 top items - pool, spa, and waterfall or water feature, the pool will help you sell your home. In fact, your home will sell faster and you will get back about what you paid for the pool.

I have always said that when families get news they are relocating to Houston, they will tell their kids they are moving and the kids cry out "Oh no!" Then they say they are going to buy a home with a pool and the kids cry out "Oh yea!" 

On Re-Sales, buyers want to see the nice, landscaped backyard with a sparkling pool. A poorly maintained pool or a plain pool without landscaping can hurt the sale. Location in the backyard is also very important. Pools placed on the side of the home and out of sight from the family areas are a challenge when selling, just as when a pool is placed too close to the house where the walkway between the water and home is narrow.
